Stella is Stellar!

Perfection.

"Stella McCartney said for pre-fall 2010 she wanted to create a complete wardrobe "with the simplicity I need as a woman." Focusing on camel, metallics, black, and white, McCartney indeed kept it simple without forgetting that fashion should be fun. Glittery mohair dicso knits, sequin animal print minis, and a Biana Jagger-style suit with matching fedora mixed with cozy country staples like camel capes, rolled denim, and oversized sweaters in this all-in-one collection of modern day essentials." Quoted from Coutorture.com

They say it perfectly, so succinctly, what could I possibly add to this?

Aircraft Hotel

If you're thinking to yourself, "that's sort of a small window for a luxury hotel suite," well, you're right. But it's only because this room occupies the entirety of a repurposed Cold War-era East German aircraft. More images after the break...
OK, the view isn't anything special: the plane stays grounded outside the Teuge airport in the Netherlands. But the room itself, dubbed the Vliegtuigsuite, is spectacular, including three flat screen TVs, a Blu-ray player, a sauna, and a jacuzzi. Guests have access to the entire plane, from your king-size bed in the back all the way up to the cockpit. On Dec. 7th 2007 I post Plane Restaurent and this time a plane hotel, the world is really amazing.

I'm Craazy About Tiffany's

My introduction to Tiffany's was of course through the cinematic brilliance of Blake Edward's Breakfast At Tiffany's (1961).  I think I was about 10 years old when I first saw it.  It just happened to be on the telly one night and I was transfixed and by the end of it, in love with Audrey Hepburn!  I mean, who wouldn't be?

I went to the library (as one did in those days) to find out all I could about who she was.  I couldn't get enough of the light that was Audrey.  I still can't today and on the weekend I got to see my friend Amanda experience Audrey's talent and beauty by watching Breakfast at Tiffany's and Roman Holiday with her for her first time.  I could not believe that after knowing Amanda for almost my whole life, she had never told me that she hadn't seen any of Audrey's movies before - I was shocked!  But boy was it was fun too!

My first piece of Tiffany's jewellery was given to me by my hubby on our 6th wedding anniversary.  I was pregnant with our second daughter and not feeling the best (thank you morning sickness).  I was overwhelmed and just so happy that the the Elsa Peretti pendant I had coveted for so long was actually mine!

Since then he has bestowed upon me two other Tiffany's gifts, earrings and a bracelet.  I just love them (and him for giving them to me of course!)

I went with my friend Amanda into Tiffany's Brisbane store just before Christmas.  Just to window shop, you know.  It was bustling with activity and it was difficult to find room amongst the shoppers to see the gorgeous jewels.  But we politely pushed our way through and were rewarded with what else?  Beauty.  It was just lovely.

My first visit to a Tiffany's store was in Chifley Place in Sydney.  It was brilliant!  I felt like Holly Golightly!  There were no purchases that day, but what a thrill, just to experience Tiffany's!  I cannot wait to go to New York and visit the very store that Holly Golightly felt so safe in:  Holly: "Don't you see how nothing bad can ever happen to you in a place like this?"

Can't wait!

Mad Hatters

Kathleen Kelly: Once I read a story about a butterfly in the subway, and today, I saw one.  It got on at 42nd, and off at 59th, where, I assume it was going to Bloomingdales to buy a hat that will turn out to be a mistake - as almost all hats are." - quoted from You've Got Mail (1998).

I love this movie and I love that line because I always disagreed with it.  Sounds strange that I would like something that I disagree with, I know.  But Meg Ryan's character Kathleen Kelly wasn't half wrong when she says that almost all hats turn out to be a mistake because often people buy the wrong hat for their face shape, and often they don't know how to wear it right either. So in a sense, I think almost all hats have the potential to be a mistake.

Some people look just great in the right hat, don't they?

Fedoras, Trilbys, flat caps and beanies.  These looks are timeless and the hats are functional as head-warmers and protectors from the sun.

One style of hat that I absolutely love is the distressed cowboy hat.  A look which unfortunately does not suit me, and I can wear just about any type of hat.  It just looks ridiculous on me, but I bought one anyway, and I wear it in the garden when I'm pulling weeds.  That way I cannot offend anyone with my ridiculous looking hat!

David Beckham show's us how its done.  Très cute.

Growing up, my Grandmother always told my brother that the correct etiquette was to remove his hat at the dinner table and when indoors.  Women did not have to follow suit because it is fine for women to wear a hat indoors and while dining.  I guess in days gone by, a lady's bonnet was such a part of her ensemble that to have to remove her hat would have meant having to have her hair redone each time she removed it!

Can you imagine Marie Antoinette having to remove her hat every five minutes?

Panama hats are a wise choice when considering buying a hat as it is one style that goes a long way because it suits just about any shape of face.

Lily Cole looks lovely in her Panama.

Hats make the perfect accessory because they can hide a bad hair day and it's a great way to hide from the world when you've got the blues.  You can just blend in to the crowd.  A hat is also good at helping you stand out when you want to be noticed, think Carrie in Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994):  Charles: "Great hat", Carrie: "Thanks, I bought it 'specially."

Chloe Sevigny looking impossibly chic in her straw boater.

Coco Chanel epitomised her effortless French style with a decorated beret here in 1938.

Jennifer Lopez strikes a pose with her wide-brimmed hat, a perfect style for her.

Kirsten Dunst looks great in her trilby.

Cameron, Kate and Kiera show us how easy it is to look good in a hat.

This winter, try giving your look a classic edge with a trench and wide-brimmed felt hat.  Just beautiful.

Victoria Beckham uses the brim of her cloche to hide from the paparazzi.

"A Hat is a flag, a shield, a bit of armor, and the badge of femininity.  A hat is the difference between wearing clothing and wearing a costume; it's the difference between being dressed and being dressed up; it's the difference between looking adequate and looking your best.  A hat is to be stylish in, to glow under, to flirt beneath, to make all others seem jealous over, and make all men feel masculine about.  A piece of magic is a hat." - Martha Sliter

I hope you enjoy your new hat Amanda, it looks good on you.  Thanks for the inspiration babe!  Happy Australia Day everyone too!

Unusual Friendship — Tiger, Lion and Bear

Tiger, lion and bear form unusual friendship Charles Hedgecoth with Shere Khan the tiger and Baloo the bear Photo: BARCROFT Tiger, lion and bear form unusual friendship...and with with Leo, the lion.

Rescued eight years ago during a police drugs raid in Atlanta, Georgia, the three friends were only cubs at the time and barely two months old. They had been kept as status symbol pets by the drug barons. Delivered to the Noah's Ark animal rescue centre in Locust Grove, Georgia, the decision was made to keep the youngsters together.

"We could have separated them, but since they came as a kind of family, the zoo decided to keep them together," said Diane Smith, assistant director of the Noah's Ark zoo.
"To our knowledge, this is the only place where you'll find this combination of animals together, they are our BLT, (bear, lion and tiger).

Living with the zoo's founders for the past eight years, Shere Khan, Baloo and Leo have now moved to a purpose built habitat were the US public can now witness first hand their touching relationship.

"We didn't have the money to move them at first," said DIane.

"Now their habitat is sorted and they have been moved away from the children's zoo areas where the public couldn't really get a good look.

"Now, though, it is possible to see Baloo, who is a 1,000 pound bear, Shere Khan, a 350 pound tiger and Leo, who is also 350 pounds messing around like brothers.

"They are totally oblivious to the fact that in any other circumstance they would not be friends."

Handled by Charles and Jama Hedgecoth, the zoo's owners and founders, the three friendly giants appear to have have no comprehension of their animal differences.

"Baloo and Shere Khan are very close," says DIane.

"That is because they rise early, as Leo being a lion likes to spend most the day sleeping.

"It is wonderful and magical to see a giant American Black Bear put his arm around a Bengal tiger and then to see the tiger nuzzle up to the bear like a domestic cat.

"When Leo wakes up the three of them mess around for most of the day before they settle down to some food."

Surprisingly for three apex predators with the power to kill with a single bite or swipe of their paw, they are very relaxed around each other.

"They eat, sleep and play together," said Jama Hedgecoth, founder of Noah's Ark zoo.

"As they treat each other as siblings they will lie on top of each other for heat and simply for affection.

"At the moment they are getting used to their new habitat.

"Shere Khan is being quite reticent about the move, but Baloo, the bear is very good at leading him on and making him feel comfortable and safe."

Explaining that the three 'brothers' have always seemed to share a unique bond, Charles Hedgecoth, Jama's husband and fellow founder talks about his role in their upbringing.

"They are obviously not wild animals any more," said Charles.

"Noah's Ark is their home and they could not possibly be separated from each other.

"You just have to remember who you're dealing with when you are with them though.
"It's when you forget that these fellows are wild animals that you get yourself in trouble."

According to DIane Smith, the trio's new habitat cost an estimated £15,000 and had to be constructed carefully, in order to accommodate its occupants.

"The clubhouse had to be very sturdy for the guys, because they all sleep in it together,"

We had to include a creek, because the tiger and the bear both like to be in water."  Via : Link
